Destroyer was launched by Karl Andersson in May 2006 as an alternative gay magazine, or “fagazine”, with the original purpose to bring back the beautiful boy as an object of desire in gay culture. That purpose is since long gone and Destroyer is nowadays more of a personal art journal.
The content of Destroyer varies from essays on contemporary art to full spreads of classic pinup-style photos of teenage boys (non nude). The magazine also features reviews of films, books and photobooks, interviews with photographers and models, as well as columns by people we like, such as Unni Drougge, Oscar Swartz, Marita Lindqvist and Bo Cavefors.
